The Acne Support Group in Cyberspace message boards are for all of us who want to talk, listen, share, help, and support fellow women and men interested in acne recovery, healing, surgery and non-surgical acne cosmetic procedures.
You can meet and chat with people considering acne treatments or procedures and patients in preparation or recovery from acne cosmetic surgery.
You can read messages without logging in. To post a message in a forum, please log in. If you’re not a member, please register. It’s free, fast, simple, and being a member gives you access to information and areas you wouldn't be able to view as a guest. If you feel you have found some valuable information from this site, please do take a moment to share your thoughts on what helped you the most, or share a story on acne in your life, and/or answer someone's post that stands out to you, irrespective of whether or not your post gets answered immediately or directly.
Do you recommend your doctor? Your opinion really counts and we’d love to hear from you. We’d appreciate your opinion along with doctor’s full name, contact information (e-mail, telephone, website), and city/state. If you're comfortable, please tell us the procedure(s) you had or are having done.

When I register, I don't receive registration emails!
ProBoards Support advise that this problem happens with some ISP Servers. I personally find that the registration emails go through ok on Hotmail and have problems with AOL.
Sometimes it could be sitting in your SPAM box.
If you are still having problems, please email me at ASGiCModerator@aol.com and I will manually register you.

When you register, you must enter a valid email address. You will then be emailed your password for your account, which will be randomly generated. You can then login to the board and change your password to something else on the profile page.

What are the benefits of registering?
There are many benefits to registering.
By registering, all posts you make will automatically have your name filled in along with your signature All your posts trails can easily be followed by others by clicking on your name/profile You will be able to see which posts are new (there will be a marker next to posts that says "NEW"). You can get email notification of replies to your posts. You will be able to modify your posts after you've posted You can send private messages to other members. Also, no one will be able to post using your name (you can "secure" it so that no one else has it!). There are many more reasons to register, but there are just too many to list.
We strongly encourage you to register for any board you are active on.

Why is the Board running slow?
Refer message from ProBoards Support:
As we pass 600,000 boards...
Dear Valued Members,
Many servers are busy right now. Some of you may be seeing the "Too Many Connections" message. Please just wait it out. If the servers didn't take a break they would crash so it is important that you wait the 30 seconds and then try again. Please don't keep re-clicking this only slows the servers down more.
I realize that for many of you this has been going on for a while. We are doing our best to accomodate all the new members we have signing up everyday. In the near future more servers will be purchased as well as upgrades for some of the older servers.
Please do not make threads here about the servers slowing down. If you think there may be a unique problem to your board please use support by all means.

How do I upload my photo(s) to the ASGiC Photo Album?
Go to the ASGiC Photo Album Click on the Upload New Photos button on the left hand side Follow the instructions to upload your photo(s)
Notes:
Your photos stay on the Bravenet server until approved - there's no facility on Bravenet at the moment for them to show up automatically (it will be approved the same day) Bravenet should notify you when uploading if your photo size is too large In which case, either resave your photo as a .jpg file instead of a bmp to reduce the size Remember to add your caption and what you'd like to say on your photo Once uploaded please post your comments in the ASGiC Photo Album thread introducing yourself etc
I am considering the The Gallery Photo Album for the site, though think it's a bit too snazzy and also it'll cost me to get them to install it and host it on the web ... around $5.95 per month every month forever ... and love you guys as much as I do, I think spending my free time on the board is as much lurrrve as I'll give ya (smiles) ... I dunno ... I'll think about it though for the moment feel the Bravenet photo album is good enough .... though never say never hey (smiles)
Update 12 May 04 I am looking at other albums as I found quite a few that are better than Bravenet's album ... haven't had a chance to look at them properly yet - it's on my to do list; though by the looks of it I'm gonna have to learn to get very technical (grins) - ah well ... part of learning I guess teaching the self to webmaster and do all the programming that goes along with it Lotsa lurrrrve (grins) Just Me

Why register with the Acne Support Group in Cyberspace Conversation Room?
You don't have to -- the choice is yours; as there are many other boards out there, just like there are many different restaurants out there to suit all cuisines and tastes etc.
I am just an ordinary person who suffered from acne most of my life, has the scars to prove it along with the trauma that goes along with it; and I happen to have the administrative flair for webmastering and designing and my job is to serve, create a safe community for those of us with acne to gather together to share our experiences along the way, support each other, separate the hype and share what works; though bearing in mind that sometimes what works for one person might not necessarily work for another and visa versa.
I haven't designed the ASGiC board to sell anything and when you register you will not receive any emails from me at all; nor any junk mail or spam to do with acne. I do nothing with your email lists - and proboards do nothing with your email listing either and you'll get no junk mail or spam from them and they will not sell your email address to anyone. I just created the ASGiC conversation room 4 years ago for a space for everyone with acne to come together and share experiences in a safe community. I'm glad that there are many other boards out there - the more the merrier; as long as the sole goal is to help others and not for monetary profit!
The ASGiC room is yours to do with whatever you want - you create the menus, have your say and I'm just the administrator, sharing my own experiences where and when necessary. I'm the administrative assistant, here to serve
The room will either take off or not ... que sera sera ... I have a way to go yet to move all the archives over (it's time consuming) and to make the room a place where people would feel comfortable enough to share and leave their legacy and experiences for others who will follow in their trails along the years cos this board will be here hopefully long after I've left this earth plane ... and so will all the trails and experiences that you all will leave here .. the good and the bad ....
So eat and dine whereever you so desire ... here's just another choice and the room belongs to all of you and will be whatever you make it to be; and of course (smiles) there's my energy here as well (smiles).

I'd like my email to remain private and yet register and become a member
You can register with your email address and still hide your email from public viewing.
Go to your profile Choose hide email from public
No one will be able to see your email address when you post nor be able to write to your email address.

How do I become a Moderator?
Not everyone that applies will automatically become an ASGiC Moderator - please don't be upset if you are not chosen.
Your performance on the Board will be monitored, ie in how you assist and encourage posters If you'd like to apply to be an ASGiC Moderator, pls email me in the first instance with your interest and let me know your handle on the Board
Everyone likes to be validated and encouraged, and a good moderator will perform this role and be helpful. You do not need knowledge of webmastering, just the basics of how to delete obscene posts, relocate threads if necessary, and crowd control I guess ie in removing obsence posts and / or banning posters who create chaos on the boards
Those with the hardest experiences are usually the best teachers !
One day I'll want to hand over the board to someone as well .... and may go walkabout agan for a while like I did on the old board and with this Board someone could easily look after it while I'm gone etc and call me if anything needs taking care of etc ... we'll see how it goes .. I'm taking it a day at a time

Will there be any updates to ProBoards forums to incorporate easier functions for users etc?
It's supposedly going to be better than PHPbb boards Yeah!! There are mixed comments on the support forum about PHPbb boards, though they are ok and free, you need to pay for webhosting for the boards and you need to set it up yourself and/or pay someone to set it up for you ... Proboards 4.0 is great cos it's free hosting and they take care so wonderfully of all the problems that happen and a whole bunch of other stuff, so guys, I'm mega grateful

What are the ASGiC Board Rules & Posting Etiquette?
Social etiquette : if you are replying to a question on the ASGiC board, please share your thoughts, experience and guidance to others directly on the ASGiC Board Posts with links redirecting posters to other acne boards to follow your posts as a member there (these links will be removed). I consider it *stealing* members. This site is just beginning afresh at Proboards after 3 years at Voy Forums, and if your genuine intention is to help others, then please share here instead of having the intention to promote another site where you are posting. Anyone making fun of acne will have their posts deleted and banned No sabotaging another person's thread, please create your own No attacks on other posters or rudeness (your post(s) will be deleted and you will be banned if you persist No spamming No porn No obscene posts No flaming List will be added to ...more to follow ....
Otherwise other rules are post as much and as often as you like and share as much information as you feel is beneficial to others as the key is to sharing our knowledge and experiences with others and gaining validation for our pain and acknowledgement that we're not alone out there and there are millions of others who do understand and emphathise and would love to share with us, given the space !

Punch Excision - Do I or Don't I « Reply #15 on Mar 31, 2007, 7:09pm »
I am interested in hearing from anyone who has had a punch excision. I have lived through many years with a few ice pick scars which, fortunately for me, which have been in a location which hasn't been too noticeable. However, about a year ago, I developed a new one which is more noticeable. It's not large, about 1mm x 1 1/2, but obviously bothers me. I'm a little upset that it happened at the age of 49, guess I thought all of this was behind me. I have gone to a cosmetic surgeon, one listed through this site, and he has informed me the only way to remove this is a punch excision. I am interested in hearing from anyone who has done this. I would love to have it removed but am a little worried about something going wrong. Is this a smart option for me or should I just live with it?
